Life asks a great deal of us.
Sometimes we become so good at coping that we stop noticing what it has been costing us.
Perhaps you've found it harder to switch off. Maybe your sleep no longer feels restorative. Perhaps you're reacting more quickly than you'd like, carrying tension more often, or simply feeling less like yourself than you once did.
I don't see these as problems to fix.
I see them as invitations to become curious.
When you work with me, we'll combine science-led breathing, trauma-informed coaching and practical nervous system education to help you better understand your body, build capacity, and meet life with greater calm, clarity and choice.
Because I don't believe the goal is to eliminate stress.
I believe we can learn to navigate it differently.
"This is not about fixing yourself. It's about learning how your breath has been serving you and choosing something different."
A different way of meeting life
Life will always bring change.
There will still be busy seasons, difficult conversations, uncertainty, grief, responsibility and pressure.
The work we do together isn't about pretending those things don't exist.
It's about changing the way you meet them.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is watching people discover that they aren't broken. More often than not, they've simply been carrying more than their nervous system has had the capacity to process.
As they begin to understand their breathing, their nervous system and the patterns they've developed over a lifetime, something begins to change.
Not because life has become easier.
Because they have.
They pause before reacting.
They recover more quickly.
They sleep more deeply.
They feel more connected to themselves.
They begin to trust themselves again.
That is the work.
How I work
Everything I do is grounded in science, shaped by curiosity and guided by the person sitting in front of me.
I don't believe in one-size-fits-all programs or quick fixes.
Every person arrives with a different story, different experiences and different goals.
Together, we'll explore what's happening in your body, learn practical ways to support your nervous system, and build simple, sustainable practices that fit into your everyday life.
Breathing is one of the tools we use.
Awareness is where change begins.
Consistency is what allows that change to last.
Meet Michelle
I know what it's like to live under pressure.
Before Exhala, I spent many years working in high-pressure environments where performing, pushing through and carrying on were simply part of the job.
I've also lived through my own experiences of stress, trauma and rebuilding.
When I discovered the science of breathing and began studying trauma-informed coaching, I realised something profound.
We all have an incredible capacity to adapt when we understand what's happening in our bodies and feel safe enough to explore it.
I don't believe I heal people.
I believe people already have an extraordinary capacity to heal, adapt and grow.
My role is to create a safe space where that process can unfold through science, curiosity and compassionate guidance.
The philosophy behind Exhala
The first breath is given.
The last breath is returned.
This breath is where your life happens.
That simple realisation has become the philosophy behind everything I do.
We cannot change the first breath.
We cannot control the last.
But we can learn to meet this one with greater awareness.
Because every conversation...
Every decision...
Every challenge...
Every moment of connection...
Happens within this breath.
And perhaps learning to meet it with curiosity is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is watching people begin to understand themselves with greater compassion and curiosity...
